DOJ Moves Forward with Dangerous Plan to Collect DNA from Immigrant Detainees : technology
This isn’t a brand new regulation, it was handed in ‘05 and then in ‘10 there was essentially a memo that they wouldn’t use the authority to gather DNA from Immigrant Detainees. The DOJ is simply revoking that memo, not creating a complete new regulation.
What at all times bothers me about articles like that is after they refer to individuals being detained on the boarder (presumably for crossing illegally) as harmless individuals who haven’t been charged with a criminal offense.
I perceive if politically you don’t assume it must be the case, however crossing one other nations boarder with the intent to keep, is against the law. It’s a legal act all by itself. It doesn’t imply you’re violent, it doesn’t imply that you’re a dangerous individual, however it does imply that you simply’re not simply an harmless bystander.
There are penalties to breaking legal guidelines, and simply since you don’t agree doesn’t change that.
