Enjoying the free edX course on Unix Tools (as a mid level engineer) : linux

I simply completed the first week of this course and I fairly loved it! The better part thus far was positively part 1.5. It says it’s about command line arguments however I simply realized a lot from that one brief video.

  • unix wildcards are expanded by the shell so all packages get them equally

  • What is the distinction between $ and $ ?

  • When to make use of ” vs “” for scripts?

  • Using the output of a command: $(date) vs `date`

  • What is a right here doc?

Most of the stuff I’m conversant in however the movies are so concise and properly performed I don’t even thoughts watching them. Also simply wished to say that whereas I do have a few years expertise as a software program engineer I nonetheless discover the course to be fairly helpful. Videos are so brief there’s not a lot to lose for those who already realize it.

Hope somebody finds use from this 🙂
