How was your experience with Android 10’s Game Driver? (Developer Options) : Android
I’ve at all times been an enormous Vulkan fan in PC titles, and lately received a twin sim Nokia 9 Pureview for ~$400, which occurs to be an Android One machine
I seen the Game Driver setting in Developer Options, and ignored it for some time, till I put in GTA San Andreas. Apparently this beforehand deserted sport received an replace final 12 months relating to compatibility and crashes on newer gadgets.
The efficiency was horrible! Constant stuttering, low fps, it doesn’t matter what settings I take advantage of (Snapdragon 845). So I remembered the Game Driver setting and gave it a attempt, and to my shock, it mounted the problem
But wait a minute… Isn’t GTA:SA an Open GL title? So I did some analysis and located this on MIUI:
Q: “What’s the difference between System Driver and Game Driver? (Pocophone F1)”
A: “This is generally regarding the Vulkan integration of Android 10. With this version, Google is pushing Vulkan everywhere that demands support for Vulkan 1.1 as a basic requirement for all 64-bit devices. For gamers, it gets even better thanks to an updated Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine (ANGLE) that implements OpenGL ES on top of Vulkan 1.1. With ANGLE onboard, you should enjoy higher frame rates, faster loading times, and improved battery life when gaming.”
So apparently, what occurred right here was that ANGLE kicked in and restored efficiency, which brings up 2 questions:
Why the hell was the sport operating so unhealthy with the traditional driver, is google one way or the other proscribing it is efficiency?
How was YOUR experience with the brand new Game Driver??? Because I discovered one other thread relating to this, and apparently nobody actually seen a distinction
Looking ahead to your replies, thanks :))
