Ingo Molnar on Monday started sending in his function pull requests for the Linux 5.7 kernel merge window. Of the pull requests value noting are the EFI adjustments.

Molnar characterised the GRUB boot-loader undertaking as “showing signs of life again” following the latest introduction of a generic Linux/UEFI boot protocol quite than “x86 specific hacks”. The hope is that over time all new extensions shall be launched through that protocol to keep away from these hacks for cleansing up the EFI kernel boot code in the end.
