My Full Node Bandwidth Usage : Bitcoin
I’ve this desktop at house that’s ON 24/7, so 2 years in the past I began seeding open supply torrents (eg: linux distros) and likewise arrange a full Bitcoin node. While I do not use Bitcoin (fiat is nice sufficient for my wants), I like the concept of getting another. I had sufficient disk house and have no (edit: knowledge) caps, so I believed I may assist the community.
There are a number of posts about bandwidth utilization right here already, however perhaps somebody considering of working a full (seeding) node will discover this information helpful.
The pc runs Windows 10, so I take advantage of Netlimiter Pro to regulate knowledge utilization and restrict speeds. Stats since 2019/03: https://i.imgur.com/3RzPvpK.png
My node normally uploads 350-400GB a month with a 1MB/s add restrict. Sometimes it uploads extra (2019/04: 642GB; 2019/08: 594GB) and generally much less (2019/09: 358GB), relying on what the friends are doing. Some days it uploads 5-10GB, different days 30-40GB.
It’s clear that I may go over 1TB on heavy months if I wasn’t seeding torrents or did not have a pace restrict in place, however since it is a house connection, I am unable to go close to my add restrict (~2MB/s) with out affecting regular utilization (gradual internet shopping, excessive latency on gaming, and so on).
Also, no issues with DDoS or complaints from my (UK) ISP to date.
