There’s a homage to original 1984 Mac design in the new iPad cursor settings : apple

I am stealing this from a Daring Fireball footnote however I believed it was cool sufficient to present to extra folks right here. The 1984 Mac management panel was designed by Susan Kare, and is notable for being utterly comprehensible regardless of not having any explanatory textual content. One of the settings was for the keyboard repeat price, with one finish of the bar denoting “slow” with a tortoise and the different finish denoting “fast” with a hare.

The new iPad cursor management copies this, once more displaying the tortoise and the hare round the slider. The hare’s course has been reversed for a little extra consistency, however nonetheless, it seems like a cool little Easter egg.
